Barley
Ai Bartender
Made for people who love good beer
Every beer drinker knows these four. Barley fixes all of them.
The “meh” tax
You grabbed the fancy can with the clever name, took a sip, and… meh. Sometimes it’s not even you — beer that’s sat too long just tastes flat.
Barley matches every pour to your taste and flags the fresh ones, so the next one’s a hit — not a $9 gamble.
The 20-tap wall
Twenty-plus taps. A digital menu so dense you’d need binoculars to read. The line’s moving and you’re up next.
Barley’s already narrowed it to the two or three you’ll love before you reach the front.
Your taste comes with you
That incredible beer from three weeks ago? You can’t remember the name. And every brewery’s rewards live in a different forgotten app.
Barley remembers every beer you loved and carries your recommendations and rewards to any brewery — even one you’ve never walked into.
Where everybody knows your name
A dozen visits in and the bartender still asks “first time?” You rate beers and wonder if anyone reads them.
Barley makes you a regular who’s recognized — your feedback reaches the people who brewed it, and your loyalty earns real perks at the bar.

How it works
Five taps to your first beer
No password. No email gate. Tell Barley what you usually like, see what your participating brewery has on tap that matches.
Tap 1
What styles do you usually drink?
Tap a few — Hazy IPAs, lagers, stouts, sours, wheat beers — or 'I'm not sure.' Honesty beats expertise; Barley adapts.
Tap 2
What flavors do you like?
Citrus, tropical, crisp, malty, coffee, sour, sweet, dry. The more you tap, the sharper the first recommendation.
Tap 3
What do you avoid?
Too bitter, too sweet, too heavy, too sour, high ABV. Barley respects what you don't want as much as what you do.
Tap 4
Where are you drinking?
Pick a participating brewery near you, or browse the network. Barley pulls the live tap list and starts ranking.
Tap 5
Meet Barley
Your top match, one familiar option, one adventurous suggestion, and the bartender's pick. Try one — rate it — get smarter recommendations next time.

The Beer Taste Genome
How Barley actually picks
Every beer Barley sees gets a structured profile across roughly 30 dimensions — style, hop bill, bitterness, sweetness, body, freshness window, food pairings. Think Music Genome Project, for craft beer — plus iTunes Genius for the drinkers like you.
- Personal taste match. How well the beer fits what you’ve told Barley you like, plus what you’ve actually rated highly.
- Similar-customer match. The beers drinkers with your taste love that you haven’t tried yet — collaborative filtering (iTunes Genius for beer), scoped per brewery.
- Freshness boost. A hazy IPA released yesterday gets a lift. A 60-day-old beer doesn’t. Beer is perishable; Barley treats it that way.
- Discovery. A small bonus for beers you haven’t tried but should. The “safely adventurous” pick.
- Variety rotation. Beers Barley recently put in front of you step aside for about a week, so your feed keeps serving something new — a bartender doesn’t keep pushing the same pour, neither does Barley.

Barley Lens
Scan any tap list, beer menu, or grocery shelf. Barley reads what’s available, picks what fits your taste, and reminds you to check the can date before you buy. The same Beer Taste Genome that ranks your brewery’s tap list — pointed at any beer you can see.
- Tap list scan. Snap the menu — get your top three from your taste profile.
- Shelf scan. Standing in the beer aisle? Barley picks the one for you.
- No date, no buy. Style-aware freshness rules, so a stale hazy IPA never lands in your cart.
Lens is in development. Available to Barley app users at launch — partner brewery or not.
Your data, your call
Your taste profile is yours.
Three things Barley does not do.
Never sells your data
No advertisers. No data brokers. The breweries you visit are the only third parties, and only for the purpose of recommending and rewarding you.
Never shares cross-brewery
Your taste profile is yours. The brewery you're at sees what you bought there, not your full history at every other brewery.
Never traps you in
One-tap opt-out at any time. Export your full taste profile, ratings, and visit history whenever you want.
