What Barley does for breweries
One platform, five jobs — all built specifically for the way taprooms and craft breweries actually run.
Customer taste profiles
Every transaction sharpens a per-customer taste graph: hop preferences, ABV range, can vs. draft, time-of-day patterns. The longer they stay, the better the recommendations get.
Automated release alerts
A new beer hits the tap and Barley pings the customers most likely to love it — segmented by taste, not blasted to your whole list.
Loyalty & rewards
Points, tiers, perks, and birthday rewards out of the box. Customers redeem in your POS; you don't change a thing.
Real-time dashboard
Top-performing styles, repeat-visit cohorts, segment-level conversion, and which campaigns actually moved revenue.
AI bartender on your site
A chat experience embedded on your brewery's website that recommends what's pouring tonight based on the visitor's history (or, for new visitors, their stated preferences).
Square-first, more soon
Live on Square POS today. Toast, Arryved, and Lightspeed integrations are next on the roadmap.
How your data becomes intelligence
Five steps from authorizing a POS connection to a brewery that knows its regulars by name and beer.
- 1
Connect Square (under 5 minutes)
Click connect, authorize Barley in your Square dashboard, pick the locations you want tracked. No new hardware, no integration engineer required.
- 2
Barley reads your purchase history
Past transactions seed each opted-in customer's taste profile. Within a week, the model has enough signal to produce useful recommendations.
- 3
Customers opt in via the taproom
QR code on the menu, the brewery's website, or via your existing email list. Opt-in is explicit; customers can leave any time.
- 4
Releases get matched to the right people
When you tap a new beer, Barley segments by taste profile and sends release alerts (SMS, email, or in-app) only to customers likely to love it.
- 5
You see what's working
A real-time dashboard shows top styles, repeat-visit cohorts, campaign ROI, and which guests are trending up or churning. Decisions you can defend in the Monday meeting.
Built for the way breweries actually work
Not a generic chatbot
Barley is purpose-built for craft beer — it speaks ABV, IBU, dry hop, and lambic. Off-the-shelf LLMs don't. Customers can tell the difference, and so can your bartenders.
Customer privacy first
Opt-in by default, opt-out one tap. We never sell or share customer data. Period.
Works with your tools
Square POS, your existing email or SMS provider, your Shopify or Squarespace site. Barley layers in; nothing rips out.
Honest data
No inflated open rates. No vanity metrics. The dashboard shows what drove revenue, not what looked good on a pitch deck.
Real results, real brewery
“Barley has completely changed how we connect with our customers. Our repeat visits are up 34% and our community is stronger than ever.”
Frequently asked questions
- How long does Barley take to set up on Square?
- Most breweries are connected and live in under five minutes. You authorize Barley in your Square dashboard, point it at the location(s) you want to track, and Barley starts building taste profiles from your existing purchase history. No new hardware. No engineer required.
- Does Barley replace our POS?
- No. Barley sits alongside your POS — it reads purchase data and pushes back loyalty interactions. Square stays your system of record. We are building integrations with Toast, Arryved, and Lightspeed next, on the same model.
- What does Barley cost?
- Pricing is tied to active customers and feature tier, not transaction volume — we don't tax you for growth. Specific tiers and a transparent pricing page are in flight; in the meantime, book a demo for a quote tailored to your taproom size and customer base.
- What customer data does Barley collect, and where does it live?
- Barley reads transaction-level data from your POS: items purchased, timestamps, tab totals, and (for opted-in customers) email or phone for messaging. Customer data is stored in our SOC 2-aligned infrastructure and never sold or shared. Customers can opt out at any time. Full data-handling detail is on the privacy page when you connect.
- Will customers know they're talking to AI?
- Yes — Barley is presented as the AI bartender from the first interaction. The brand promise is intentional: an attentive, knowledgeable companion that remembers what you like, not a human pretending to be a chatbot or vice versa. Transparency is a feature.
- When are Toast, Arryved, and Lightspeed integrations coming?
- Toast and Arryved are next on the roadmap, with Lightspeed close behind. The exact ship dates depend on partnership and certification timelines; the live status is on the Integrations section of the homepage and updated in our changelog.
- Do you have customers we can talk to?
- Yes. The Keg Stand is our flagship reference; their owner, Jake G., reports a 34% lift in repeat visits since rolling out Barley. We can introduce you to him and to other early breweries during the demo process.
